How can we obtain peace in the world outside ourselves if we do not also obtain peace inside ourselves? For myself (and many others, such as the Dalai Lama), the answer is clear: World peace begins with inner peace. In this class we will explore different methods of dealing with the negativity, chaos and turmoil that many of us find in our lives – both in our heads, in our bodies, in our behaviour and reaction patterns, in our ways of communicating, and in our relationship to our selves as well as to other living beings around us. Using tools from a variety of disciplines (both eastern and western, old and new, spiritual and psychological such as yogic, taoist, shamanistic, the Positive Psychology Movement, Non-violent Communication and more) we will learn to breathe slowly, to relax, and to connect with our bodies, minds, and selves. We will learn to understand ourselves on a deeper level, to let go of some of the old ‘luggage’ that we might unintentionally be carrying around, and to initiate constructive change processes within ourselves.
