Drama

Picture Drama“With any part you play, there is a certain amount of yourself in it. There has to be, otherwise it’s just not acting. It’s lying.”

Johnny Depp (Actor)

Teacher: Mette Skamris        Lessons: 4 /week

Rationale and objectives:

By engaging in drama you will get more awareness of sending and receiving signals. You will get an opportunity to improve your performance and communication skills, to be on a stage, and to have a lot of fun.

Content and methods:

We will be doing many different drama-games, verbal and non-verbal improvisations, mask work, song, dance, and sketches. We will do small plays, presentations, creating stories, and hopefully get a visit by an actor or go to a theatre. We will work in groups, be silly and have fun. You do not need to have any drama experience.

We will also explore how drama can be used as a powerful democratic tool, as theatre can illustrate important community issues, for example in relation to violence, health, or harassment.

In the first 12 weeks we will work on drama plays in smaller groups, we will get to know each other well and build trust in the group to create a creative and supportive environment for self-expression. In the last 12 weeks the class will create a larger drama-performance and everyone in the class will work together towards a common goal.
