The combination of
music and theater opens up fantastic possibilities. Words appeal to the intellect but music and the magnificent
visual effects go directly to the heart. Musicals have had many faces and forms. This art form has (maybe rightfully) been criticized for being predictable, manipulative and full of clichés but there are also many innovative, interesting and well staged musical performances. Musicals have a long tradition of appealing to a big, wide audience.
The International People's College is now offering a one-week course both for those who wish to explore this genre as
active singers and actors but also those who are interested in learning more about the
history and development of musical as an art form.
The course is going to be coordinated by
IPC principal Søren Launbjerg who has starred as the main character in a series of musical performances since the beginning of 1990s and who is thus one of the most experienced musical personalities in Denmark. He'll be assisted by teachers, band leaders, producers, composers and lyrics writers from the professional musical world, among other
Mikkel Rønnov and
Johnny Jørgensen.
During daytime, we'll focus on
active practice, e.g. in a choir, solo, performing, choreography, physical movement, storytelling etc. In the evenings, we'll offer different kinds of cozy
arrangements that will broaden your perspective on musical and we'll invite people who have over the years been working with this genre.
Accommodation at IPC is in
single or double rooms.
Three tasty meals are served during the day prepared by our wonderful multicultural kitchen staff. On Friday we'll organize a
farewell party.
